SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE OF INTERFAITH MARRIAGE IN A MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY

Social acceptance of interfaith marriage in multicultural societies is the result of complex interactions between various social, cultural, and personal factors. Further research is needed to understand these dynamics in depth and how social support and can contribute to wider acceptance of interfaith marriage in Indonesia. This study aims to find out the public perception of interfaith marriage, social acceptance and rejection of interfaith marriage in multicultural society, and what are the challenges faced by interfaith couples in building families in diverse social environments. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach with an in-depth interview method. The research sample consisted of multicultural communities who had experience or knowledge about interfaith marriage. The sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling techniques to ensure that participants had diverse religious backgrounds and experiences. The data collected from the interviews will be analyzed using thematic analysis. The analysis process involves coding and categorizing the findings that emerge from the interview. The research that has been conducted obtained several answers related to the questions listed in the research instrument section, Data analysis shows a significant correlation between several answers, so that the combination of answers according to categories is carried out to increase the validity and reliability of research results. Acceptance and Tolerance, Social Acceptance Factors, Tolerance Values, Challenges Faced and Social Acceptance Factors in Different Religious Families. This study shows that multicultural societies have different views on interfaith marriage. Although most respondents do not accept interfaith marriage, some respondents stated that they accept it personally and consider interfaith marriage to be a natural and special thing. Factors that influence social acceptance of interfaith marriage include personal experiences, love, social media, and changing times.
