Abstract

The tahlilan tradition is a form of ritual that is thick in Islamic society, especially in Indonesia. Many communities maintain this tradition because tahlilan is considered a form of acculturation between local culture and Islamic teachings. This research aims to identify people's perceptions of the tahlilan tradition, including the values they adhere, as well as how this tradition functions in their lives, especially in Gunung Sari village. The research uses a qualitative approach with interview, observation, and questionnaire methods to understand the meaning, experience, and perception of individuals or groups related to these traditions. The results of the study show that the majority of people still consider tahlilan relevant in maintaining spiritual values and strengthening social relationships. However, modernization and intergenerational differences affect the intensity of its implementation. Tahlilan is also considered an important part of the cultural tradition and da'wah media that must be preserved.
