Intertribal marriage between Javanese and Batak couples is a phenomenon that shows the diversity of cultures in Indonesia. This study aims to understand the dynamics of communication, cultural adaptation, and challenges faced by couples in intertribal marriages. The method used was an in-depth interview with cross-tribal couples to explore their experiences of living a married life. The results of the study show that effective communication and cultural awareness are the main keys in building harmonious relationships. Couples are able to overcome differences in values, norms, and communication styles through open dialogue, mutual understanding, and cultural adjustment. The integration of Javanese and Batak customs in their marriage shows the existence of cultural compromises that strengthen family ties. This research contributes to the study of intercultural communication, especially in the context of intercultural marriage relationships, as well as provides insight for people in dealing with cultural differences in daily life.
