Abstract

In the modern era with the very strong influence of globalization, many cultures from various parts of the world have begun to erode, including in Indonesia itself. Jamu is one of the cultural heritage of the Indonesian nation which is believed to have existed since the 5th century. Herbal medicine is famous for its many health benefits, such as to increase immunity, reduce minor health problems, maintain sleep quality, and maintain digestive health. However, even though it has many health benefits, the tradition of consuming herbal medicine is slowly starting to be abandoned, especially among teenagers who prefer and are interested in modern and contemporary drinks. This research generally aims to examine the reasons or factors that affect the low interest of adolescents in consuming traditional herbal medicine and find ways to attract adolescents to consume herbal medicine at SMAS Kornita IPB and MAN 1 Bogor City. This study targets students of both high schools to find out the reasons why they are not interested in traditional herbal medicine directly. The results obtained from this study show that there are indeed some teenagers who are not interested in traditional herbal medicine, for reasons such as the bitter taste, the color of traditional herbal medicine that looks uncomfortable to look at, and the difficulty of accessing to buy herbal medicine because there are few traditional herbal medicine traders who travel in the residential areas of the teenagers.
