Abstract

This research aims to explore the interest and development of Jaipong dance among the younger generation, especially in the Babakan area, Bogor City. Through a qualitative approach, this research involves in-depth interviews with art actors, direct observation of Jaipong dance teaching and learning activities, and documentation studies. The results of the study show that the interest of the younger generation in Jaipong dance is still quite high, but it faces challenges in maintaining its traditional values in the midst of modernization. Factors that affect these interests include the influence of the family environment, school, and the availability of learning facilities. In addition, this study also identifies efforts that have been made to preserve Jaipong dance, such as the establishment of dance studios and involvement in various events. Based on these findings, the study suggests several strategies to increase interest in and development of Jaipong dance in the future, including through innovations in dance presentation, the use of information technology, and cross-sector cooperation.
